A Humbling Experience
Today’s visit to Pumwani Maternity Hospital was truly humbling.
From what was once known as the “old Pumwani,” we now see a modern, caring, and clean facility. It’s encouraging to witness how far this historic institution has come in serving mothers and newborns with dignity and care.
A Place Where Futures Begin
With over 50 births every day, Pumwani is more than a hospital—it’s where futures are born. Presidents, lawyers, doctors, dreamers… their first cries echoed through these walls. It’s a powerful reminder of the hospital’s legacy and impact.
Rotary in Action: Supporting Maternal Health
As part of our Cluster 7 initiative, we proudly donated reclining maternity beds to support mothers during delivery. These beds are designed to improve back posture and comfort, making the birthing experience more humane and dignified. The gratitude from the hospital staff was heartfelt and energizing.
A Vision for the Future
We also had the privilege of viewing Pumwani’s future architectural plans—and they are nothing short of inspiring. Their bold vision aligns beautifully with our Rotary values and gives us hope for even greater transformation ahead.
Advancing Rotary’s Pillars
Rotary International has 7 Areas of Focus, and today, we made a meaningful contribution to the pillar of Maternal and Child Health. But this isn’t the end—it’s the beginning of a deeper, long-term journey with Pumwani.
Gratitude & Reflection
Special thanks to Rotary Club of Nairobi Parklands and Rotary Club of Nairobi South for their unwavering support and collaboration on this impactful initiative. 🙏
As I mark my final year serving as Assistant Governor for Rotary District 9212 – Centennial Year 2024/2025, I’m filled with gratitude for the opportunity to be part of this life-changing service.
